Reviewed by Musicians Hotline.com

Most musicians have developed a standard of their own for cleaning their instruments. Virtuoso's cleaner and polish have raised the bar more than a few notches. Using the Virtuoso products will give you a result that you'll love, partly because it looks so good, and partly because the protection provided by this powerful cleaning and polishing system will make future cleaning easier and fewer in number. Virtuoso's products are well worth your money.

Virtuoso Premium Polish and Virtuoso Premium Cleaner were especially developed forvintage guitars and other musical instruments by the Virtuoso Group, Inc.. Now, no matter what year or model, you can clean and polish your guitar with just a touch of this premium polish and cleaner. You can remove dirt and grime without lifting or damaging the finish and also help protect the finish and wood underneath. Believe me, you can keep your guitar looking beautiful with the Virtuoso cleaning system. This two part cleaning system is designed specifically for nitrocellulose lacquer finishes. It also works wonders on polyurethane and UV cured finishes found on newer instruments.

My experience with Virtuoso Premium Polish and Virtuoso Premium Cleaner was great. Virtuoso products are a good value. Consider this testimonial a true representation as I have cleaned and polished two guitars and polished a third with outstanding results. Virtuoso's press kit is without hype and full of facts that can be backed up by just one use. Of course, I think you'll want to keep using it when it's time to clean your gnarly looking instrument that has been soaked in beer, banged against your belt buckle and had your filthy mits pawing it like a groupie. Sorry, I must be talking about my guitar. You wouldn't treat a guitar like that, would you?

Well, here is how you protect it if you do. Read closely Willie.

Be assured that the Virtuoso Premium Cleaner is very good and provides outstanding results. Now the Virtuoso Premium Polish is not a cleaner, it is designed to protect your guitars finish once it is clean, however I had good results removing finger prints from my hardware with the polish. One of the guitars I polished was very clean, I just polished and wiped the finger prints off. Not even Joe Friday could tell I had deadened a note. I have played this instrument many times since and it shows no sign of needing further treatment. This is where the value shows true for Virtuoso's products. If you follow the directions, which are easy, you will remove a lot of dirt and grime you didn't know was there, using very little product. Just like the Kirby salesman showed me last week while trying to sell me a vacuum, there is a lot of hidden dirt that appears on the cloth as you clean. Don't be alarmed if you seem to be getting more than just dirt on the cloth. When cleaning a vintage guitar my cloth had some red in it after using Virtuoso's Premium Cleaner. Whoa! I thought I had a real problem. Not so. I read the directions and discovered that the nitrocellulose lacquer finish on my guitar is a porous material. This type of finish allows small amounts of pigment to filter out in between the top of the finish and the layer of built up wax or polish used before. The Virtuoso cleaner takes the pigment residue off as you remove this polish. Use the cleaner again and the color pigment is gone. This happens mostly with older instruments. Newer instruments mainly have polyurethane and UV cured finishes. I was pleased with the final result. I had better a looking guitar with a brand new look. An impressive cleaning indeed.

When applying either the Virtuoso Premium Cleaner or Polish, do not use it on unfinished wood such as the fingerboard or strings. This can be harmful to ANY unfinished wood and can deaden a new set of strings. And remember to use a small amount of polish on the hardware if you do what I did to remove finger prints. "Less is more" applies here.

The features of the Virtuoso Premium Polish are, both the cleaner and polish use a chemical reaction to breakdown residues. There are no abrasives which can harm the instrument, and I have noticed on my older instrument that I do not need to do anything more than wipe it down after playing, and the Virtuoso Premium Polish has kept it looking good for a long time. The polish also provides a very high degree of UV protection. During application, the polish seals your finish with a strong glaze that helps slow down the oxidation of your finish and protects the color of the wood, painted or stained finish with an inherent UV filter. The real value is the small amount of product needed to get long lasting results. The directions call for just a "dime" sized amount of polish or cleaner for each 6"x 6" area to be cleaned. A small amount gives you big results. The Virtuoso Premium Cleaner is very effective in removing dirt, then the Virtuoso Premium Polish protects your newly clean guitar allowing you to just wipe it down after playing.

Each bottle of Virtuoso cleaner and polish is $10, proving my claim that Virtuoso's cleaning system is a great value. The protective features of Virtuoso's products keep your guitar looking great for a long time. My Les Paul is shiny and looks great while I play. I cleaned it a month ago and I have no need to clean or polish it's finish yet. Not even close. For a total investment of $20 for both cleaner and polish, my guitar is protected for a long time. The Virtuoso Premium Cleaner, and the Virtuoso Premium Polish, give me confidence my instrument will look cool every time I pull it out of the case. Virtuoso's products have been tested at my monthly blues jam sessions. Beer, sawdust, and real sweat have bounced off the invisible force shield provided by Virtuoso's Premium Cleaning System. That's a test for any instrument. Now that my instrument is lookin' good, I can continue my search for better tone.
