It's
the latest creation from the CHROMATIC WATCH COMPANY. And, not only
does it display the pitches of the chromatic scale, like the company's
famous watches, this new clock also "chimes" the time
in the actual notes depicted on its face.
It means that music lovers around the world can show their appreciation
for music in their home or at the office, just as they do by wearing
their Chromatic Watches on their wrists.
Both the watches and the newly-created Chiming Wall Clocks are called
"chromatic", because that word refers to a series of steps.
It just so happens that the musical octave is divided into twelve
equal parts, called half steps...just as there are twelve numbers
on the face of a clock. On the time pieces from the CHROMATIC WATCH
COMPANY, the letters of the musical alphabet, "A" through
"G", replace the numbers.
The company was founded by career musician Pete Hankinson of North
Tonawanda, NY, who thought of the idea while he was teaching music
at Sweet Home Jr. High School back in the 1970's.
From an artist's rendering of his first watch, Hankinson ran an
ad in a national magazine, to see if anybody was interested in it.
When he received 36 orders, Pete decided to find a manufacturer.
Many thousands of sales later, he's still selling his unique timepieces.
His product line has grown to include Chromatic, Circle of Fourths,
and Circle of Fifths watches, along with clocks...all of which are
popular throughout the world. His new Chiming Wall Clocks are sure
to be popular, as well.
