Musicians Hotline is proud to sponsor the Atlanta
International Guitar Show on May 30 - June 1 in Marietta, GA. In
an interview with the shows promoter, Frank Fabiszewski, here¹s
what¹s planned for this years show.
MH: Frank, tell us how you got your start in this business
and how that led you into music retail in the Atlanta area.
FF: I played clarinet for 2 years in elementary school. Because
of asthma my Mom and Dad and my doctor said, "You need to play
a non wind instrument". At 12 I began playing guitar. My brother
and I collected guitars since I was twelve. We had so many, that
my Dad and I decided to open a store. My parents & I purchased
a building on music row in Smyrna, GA and I named it Amazing Music.
Which is also home of Hurricane Records. I opened it in
1996.
MH: As a veteran of guitar shows, tell us how this years
Atlanta Intl. Guitar & Blues Festival will be unique.
FF: We have the best of the best musicians in the city of Atlanta
playing in the Blues Festival. They are some of the best musicians
in the world. This even marks the first time a guitar show in Atlanta
is also spotlighting the South's premier guitarists. The Festival's
open-air stage will host 16 hours of Blues and Blues-Rock.
It will also give people an opportunity to enjoy great guitar dealers,
collectors and players from around the world. They will be ready
to buy, sell and trade.
The atmosphere at the Cobb County Fairgrounds is unique in and
of itself. You can camp for the weekend, you can fish, you can go
to a horse show, and then you can listen to some of the greatest
Blues anywhere. There is also going to be some great food. So it
can be a great weekend for everyone.
MH: Atlanta seems to be a solid music scene. How do you think
this will benefit the attendance of the show?
FF: The musicians are very well known in the South and have
a following that is unsurpassed. That alone will help bring the
people in.
MH: What type of Guitar Show are you expecting? Mainly vintage,
or a mix of all types of guitars and related items?
FF: It will be a mix of all types of guitars and related items.
People will find rare beauties, vintage, classics, customs, players'
favorites and factory made. Something for everyone!
MH: How many dealers and venders are you expecting for the
show and what area of the country do you feel will supply the greatest
support of exhibitors?
FF: We're expecting a good turn out from dealers all across
the South and others from across the nation. Plus Japan and Europe.
Booths are being sold as we speak. Get your booth today at an affordable
rate.
MH: Tag Teaming with one of the largest Blues Festivals in
the world, tell us about the Blues Fest as well as some of the featured
performers.
FF: For people who come to hear great guitars, the Blues Festival
guarantees to satisfy with some of the greatest guitar players of
all time. There are too many people to mention. Check out my ad
in Musicians Hotline for the list of who will be there!
MH: What type of attendance are you anticipating for the
show and what do you feel is your target audience?
FF: You never know about attendance. There is something for
everyone so I feel it will be a great weekend. Our target audience
is anyone that likes great guitars and great music.
MH: What do you feel the Atlanta Intl. Guitar Show will provide
that is unique and different in relation to other guitar shows?
FF: Atlanta is the greatest city in the world! It is rich in
music and southern hospitality. The venue alone is amazing. So everyone
needs to come out and experience everything it has to offer.
MH: In closing Frank, what do you feel is in store for the
future of the Atlanta Guitar Show and what do you feel will contribute
to its continued success?
FF: It will eventually become the best guitar show in the nation.
From the advice of Jimmy Wallace and Gary Burnett and the promotion
in a dozen magazines, radio spots, TV, flyers, newspapers, many
gas stations, 15 music stores and growing every day. This will be
a good show. It's a show that provides something for everyone.
