Guitar Show
Music & Arts Festival

PASSION & MONEY IN A GIG BAG

ATLANTA, GA 05/01/04 - Atlanta International Guitar Show Music & Arts Festival (The Guitar Show) will fill the exhibit building of the Cobb County Fairgrounds with guitar dealers, collectors and players from all over the world, Memorial Day Weekend (Friday thru Monday) May 28-31, 2004 in what promises to be Atlanta's largest guitar show to date. The show aims to address the needs of the serious collector's quest for "the perfect guitar" as well as those interested in acquiring their first instrument.

Plugged in or acoustic: guitars are soulful, rhythmic, percussive, melodic and sound investments. Guitar enthusiasts will be able to buy, sell and trade vintage, classic, custom, players' favorites, factory issues a spectrum of stringed instrument accessories and new, used and vintage amps. The show is also a great opportunity for the public to talk to and learn from expert collectors, players and luthiers.

Some think of the guitar as a mediator between sonic and visual art, Pablo Picasso's cubist images of the guitar are embedded in popular culture. Because some instruments are crafted as examples of sculpture and decorative art, event organizer, Frank Fabiszewski of Hurricane, Inc. finds it natural to add Arts to the show. This is a groundbreaking effort to give a guitar show audience opportunity to celebrate beauty both through stringed music and visual arts, featuring Bronze Sculptures and other various forms of art.

Atlanta Rocker and The Bobaloos founder, Franky Day, will play some of the rarest guitars in the world, a 1960 Gibson Curly Maplewood Sunburst Les Paul and a 1966 Fender Sunburst Stratocaster (the year Jimi Hendrix made famous) ran through 40-year-old Hiwatt amplifiers. Nancy Henderson (previous back up singer for 38 Special) will join The Bobaloos as they perform cuts from their self-titled CD and their new release, "Rock & Roll Your Blues Away". The Bobaloos will play Saturday night with special guests, KYMYSTRY from Jacksonville, FL, as well as, a variety of musical entertainment throughout the entire festival. Other guest musician's performing will be Harley Lamoureux "Coconut Harley" (harmonica player for Charlie Daniels Band), Bruce Hastell (guitar player/vocalist from Badfinger, Wings, Heart), Boonie Maroonie (bassist for Hurricane), Tommy Strain (well known Atlanta guitarist).
