We have been building dreadnought acoustic guitars since 1963, and these instruments are revered for their value, reliability, tone, responsiveness, outstanding projection and sustain. This full-bodied, high-volume body style was developed with an emphasis on string-to-string balance, so that treble, mid and bass registers project evenly. The result is one of the most musically versatile dreadnoughts anywhere.
All of our dreadnoughts are 15-3/4" wide and feature all solid woods. All employ Guild’s time-proven "X" bracing pattern. Our hand-shaped dreadnought necks measure 1-11/16" width at the nut with a 25-5/8" scale length and are equipped with Grover Rotomatic® tuners. In addition, All Guild guitars are accompanied by a deluxe archtop case.
Guild’s flagship model, the D55 was first introduced in 1968 as a special order item only, but the response was so strong that within a few years it was added to the line as a regular production model. The D55 is prized by players worldwide—from John Renbourn to the Barenaked Ladies. This is a Bambino with a Jazz Attitude...this deluxe version maintains the dimensional specifications of the Bambino model but adds modern sound holes, a flamed maple veneer top, gold hardward, and a deluxe binding package (w/b/w/b/w) to the body, neck and headstock. The sound holes enhance the acoustic volume to the unplugged instrument and give the guitar a more traditional archtop look with only a single pickup place in the rhythm position. The Bravo was designed to gratify the player's need for a tastefully-detailed, rich and full-sounding thin-body that they could travel with the next generation archtop guitar. It utilizes exceptionally lightweight laminated spruce top and flamed maple back construction. The Bravo features a hand-shaped, flamed maple neck, gorgeous abalone floral inlay at the 12th fret and the Benedetto A-6 humbucking pickup, which provides the warm and clear tones that are so desired by professional guitarists. The Bravo was crafted for the player who has longed to express himself or herself on an instrument of the highest order. There simply is no substitute for the Benedetto pedigree.
